Dear Distinguished Members of the Pleasant Valley Country Club:
August
Already
Aargh!!!
It is hard to believe how fast these days and months are going. The dog days of summer are
upon us and if you are inclined to complain about the heat
need I remind you that 6 months
ago we were snowed in for weeks on end. According to the National Weather Report, this past
June was the warmest June recorded since they started weather records. Perhaps there is
some truth to that global warming stuff we've heard about.
We usually are feeling thankful in November, specifically at Thanksgiving, but I am feeling
thankful now (people have Christmas in July, so I am allowed to have Thanksgiving in August!!!)
as I write this letter and have all of you in my thoughts. We have a lot of good people here at
PVCC, people who are always ready and willing to participate in the betterment of our club.
This year we had "Tough Day," "Opening Of The Greens," "Pick Your Partner," "Jack & Jill,"
"Men's Invitational", "Joe Williams" and finished off July with "Club and Flight Championship".
I want to thank everyone who participated in these events - this is what PVCC is about!!
Pleasant Valley Country Club is very unique - it is perfect for the older members, the newer
members, the retired members, the working members, the young members - there is something
for everyone.
I want to personally thank our members who have had their golf outings at our club. We
enjoyed the opportunity to host their organizations only because a few good members took it
upon themselves to promote our course. I therefore want to thank Jim Davies (Davies Ford),
Vic Gasbarro (Highlands Hospital), Lee Dolfi (Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Local 354), Dr. Emilio
Navarro (Boy Scouts), Max House (Rotary), Russ Grimm (YMCA, who will be going into the
NFL Hall of Fame in August and is the son of our members, Charlie and Jane Grimm), and we
can't forget the Rubber Duck - Dick Morrow! Not only do these outings give the club more
exposure and hopefully attract more members, but they also keep us together and are quite
enjoyable for all!
I also humbly thank the good people of our club who participate in the everyday events that
we feature: the Tuesday night Men's SWATS, 11AM Weekday and Weekends Men's Swats,
and the 1PM Skins Game, Tuesday Ladies Day, 10:30AM Saturday and Sunday Ladies Swats
and the Friday Night Couples Twilighters. Only through your efforts and your participation are
these events successful.
Last but not least, I want to thank Judy Morrow for her many years of junior golf leadership,
the pro shop, the grounds maintenance, the Bells (Food Service), office staff (including our
"General") and everyone here at the club. It has been a great couple of months and there are
more fun events coming up.
On behalf of the Board of Governors, I humbly thank all of you.
Respectfully,
President George "Huck" Rattay
