PLEASANT VALLEY COUNTRY CLUB DECEMBER NEWSLETTER 2008 From the President: Dave Angelicchio
______________________________________________________________________________________________

The President's Ball, honoring past President Barry Craig, was a huge success. Congratulations Barry and thank you again
for your many years of service to Pleasant Valley Country Club. I also want to thank Rich Jovan for putting this event together
and I am happy to report that the entire Board of Governors was in attendance. Check the calendar for all upcoming events
including the Christmas Cocktail Party and New Year's Eve Party and don't forget to make your reservations early.

The club will be closed on December 24 & 25th for Christmas. The clubhouse will be closed from January 1st through the
12th for extra cleaning and maintenance. We will re-open on Tuesday, January 13th.

Over the years, the membership has voluntarily contributed to the employee Christmas fund. We ask again this year for your
support. Our employees greatly appreciate the generosity that you have shown and this is continually demonstrated by the
very high employee retention rate that we enjoy. Thank you in advance for your support.

After several false starts, I am happy to report that our website is now up and running and almost fully functional. It is a work-
in-progress and we will continue to add contact and updates. The monthly calendar and newsletters are available, as I am
writing this letter, and we are working on adding the golf and wedding packages. I would also like to add a member directory
but need to be sure that we can secure it. Please check it out at www. Pleasantvalleycountryclub.com. I would like to thank
Marty Rottler for his hard work and creativity in designing our site. Any comments or suggestions on the web-site would be
welcomed. In the next couple of months, we will discontinue mass mailing of the newsletter. It will be available on line and
via e-mail if you wish. We will also keep a supply of newsletters in the clubhouse. As another reminder, please provide your
e-mail address to Marilynn in the business office as soon as possible and be sure to provide us with updates if your e-mail
address changes. If you do not have internet service or access to e-mail, please let Marilynn know and she will continue to
mail a newsletter to you.

On behalf of The Board of Governors, I would like to extend our best wishes for a very happy holiday season and a New Year
of abundant health and success.

Respectfully Submitted,
Dave Angelicchio
President

New Year's Eve Party
Come welcome in the New Year with us Wednesday evening December 31st. Coz Serrapere will be returning with his Dean
Martin style show. Coz has been performing as Dean Martin at multiple venues around Pittsburgh and beyond including the
Sands and Tropicana in Atlantic City, and Mountaineer Park. Also, he has appeared on TV, in films and local dinner theatre.
Coz is a true entertainer who kept us entertained throughout the evening last year with his songs and jokes, mixed in with a
deejay for dancing. A wonderful six course menu has been planned by Chef Don that will be followed by a champagne toast
at midnight. Advance reservations are required!

Once again, I ask for your support for the parking valets at these evening parties.

PRO'S COMMENTS
THE SNOW HAS FALLEN AND EXCEPT FOR A FEW DIEHARDS, THE SEASON LOOKS TO BE ABOUT OVER. I'M
SORRY TO SAY THAT I DON'T HAVE ANY GOLF RESULTS TO REPORT, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO LOOK BACK ON THIS
PAST YEAR SAY, THANK YOU! THANK YOU, TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED IN OUR CLUB EVENTS, AND
ALSO FOR SUPPORTING THE PRO SHOP.

WE HAD SOME REALLY GREAT WEATHER LATE IN THE SEASON, AND THE AMOUNT OF PLAY WAS ALSO GREAT.
WE HAD MORE PLAY ON WEEKDAYS IN OCTOBER AND EARLY NOVEMBER, THAN WE HAD IN THE SUMMER.
FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT STILL WANT TO PLAY MORE THIS WINTER AND ARE PLANNING A TRIP SOMEWHERE
WARM, PLEASE CALL ME, OR LEAVE A MESSAGE ON EXT. #4 IF YOU NEED ANY HELP GETTING ON CERTAIN
COURSES.

FOR THOSE OF YOU, WHO ARE DONE PLAYING FOR THE YEAR, CHECK YOUR CLUBS. BEFORE YOU THROW
THEM IN THE CORNER, GIVE THEM SOME INSPECTION. IF YOUR GRIPS ARE HARD, SHINY, CRACKED OR HAVE
WORN FINGER MARKS, IT'S PROBABLY TIME TO REPLACE THEM. A WORN GRIP WILL TEND TO MAKE YOU GRIP
THE CLUB TO TIGHTLY, WHICH IN TURN WILL REDUCE HAND ACTION THROUGH THE SWING. GOOD HAND
ACTION OR WRIST RELEASE AT THE PROPER TIME IS THE KEY TO LONGER SHOTS, THAT'S WHAT MAKES THE
TOUR PLAYERS LOOK SO EFFORTLESS.
ALL GRIP BRANDS AND STYLES AVAILABLE. PLEASE USE UP PRO SHOP CREDIT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. UNUSED PRO SHOP CREDIT GOES TO JR. GOLF ON DECEMBER 31ST
THE GOLF COMMITTEE AND I WILL BE WORKING ON THE 2009 GOLF SCHEDULE SOON, IF YOU HAVE ANY
SUGGESTIONS FOR CLUB EVENTS, OR KNOW OF ANY GROUP(S) THAT WOULD LIKE TO HAVE AN OUTING
PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

"THAT LITTLE WHITE BALL WON'T MOVE UNTIL YOU HIT IT, AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO AFTER IT HAS
GONE."

HAPPY HOLIDAYS,
