Dear Distinguished Members of the Pleasant Valley Country Club:
I warned you last month about time flying when you're having fun and how right I was on both counts - we HAD fun and the
month flew by.
We certainly started August off with a blast! The pool party with the "Buffet Man" was very entertaining and the food - WOW!
"Britain may have talent, but PVCC has even more talent!" Rich Jovan, our singer and the one and only Dick Morrow proved
that! I hope none of you party animals, a.k.a. PVCC members missed this one!
We also hosted quite a few outside events - The Frick Hospital Golf Outing, the Fayette County Open, Windber Country
Club Exchange Day, The Highlands Golf Outing and the-ever-popular Rubber Duck. When I am present at any of these
events, I make it a priority, on behalf of our Club, to thank every group who participates.
I would be remiss if I neglected to tell you all a common denominator in every conversation I have with visitors here at
Pleasant Valley Country Club - the PVCC golf course is in fantastic shape! I hear this over and over again. It is only human
nature to miss something good that is right in front of our faces. We sometimes need a visiting "player" to point it out to us!
Take a look around and be proud of what our club has to offer! I invite you to see the beauty of the well-maintained grounds
through the eyes of our visitors! I know you will like what you see! When you run into Mark, Tom or any of their crew members
stop and thank them for a job well done!
As you are reading this, it is September!!! If there is any doubt, look around - are your children and/or grandchildren
missing??? (Don't worry; they are just back in school.) High school football will be gearing up. Labor Day - (you know, the
holiday that screams "Summer's over!") is fast approaching. Remember though, as one season's chapter closes, another
opens - FALL! Great golf playing weather is coming up! Plan to enjoy this fall - playing with your family and friends here at
PVCC.
I appreciate and welcome your comments about our monthly newsletter. If you have some news you want me to get out
there, as well as suggestions, helpful hints, whatever - please let me know.
One closing thought - you can inherit a bank account, but friendships? I think not!
Respectfully yours,
George "Huck" Rattay

Even though the kids are back to school we still have several months of good golf weather. We are busy planning
several fall events for the club and booking holiday parties. Please keep us in mind if you are planning a holiday party or
get together. We would love to serve you here at the club or cater your event at your home.
Mark your calendar!! There will be a Halloween Costume Party on Friday, October 30th. Details will be out in next

LADIES GOLF ASSOCIATION
The ladies Golf Association had a successful "take off and Landing" on Tuesday, August 11th. Eighty-eight golfers
enjoyed the day. The rain stopped in time to provide the ladies with a great day of golf, a good lunch and the usual fun
filled afternoon. Thanks to everyone who participated for a successful "flying Experience".
The Ladies Golf Association Fun Day will be on Tuesday, September 15th. Details about the day's activities will be
posted on the bulletin board in the Ladies Locker Room and the 19th hole. Please remember to make your reservation
by signing the list in the locker room or by calling either Cindy or Marilynn. Reserve the day for golf, lunch and prizes.
A general membership meeting of the Ladies Golf Association is scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at
2:00 p.m. immediately following the Fun Day luncheon.

High School Matches: High school golf season has begun and will go on until the beginning of
October. PVCC is the home course for both Connellsville HS andGeibel HS. This will make most
weekday afternoons a little crowded, and may make it difficult to get 18 holes in. On match days,
the 1st tee and front nine is closed from 3:30 - 5:00. If there is room, some groups will be
permitted to start on hole #10, but permission must be granted by the pro shop. We have had
numerous incidents of groups (without permission) cutting in front of other groups on the back
nine. Please check in at the pro shop before heading out.
New Rule Regarding Jr. Golfers: If a junior member is 16 years old and has a handicap of 25 or
less, they are permitted to play in Club Events, except The Men's Invitational, which will be 18.
